Hackaday - COOK UP YOUR OWN HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS.

They make YBCO in a kiln which blows oxygen over it (needed for the proper mix of the final product). That is just crazy and cool! The superconductor only needs liquid nitrogen which makes it a high temperature superconductor.
