New water-look-alike technology fights fire without causing water damage

It is called "Sapphire" and looks like water but will not damage anything. They say it is safe for the enviroment and disapates within 5 days unlike previous products that were hazardous to the ozone. I think this will be used heavily in the electronic and computer manufacturing places, since it will not do water damage. A little pricy I heard on the Discovery Channel it would cost $35 a foot, but well worth it.
Lets hope it truely is safe for the enviroment.

he SAPPHIRE Suppression System uses 3M® NOVEC 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. It looks exactly like water, but does not cause the type of damage associated with water when putting out a fire. It can be used to protect rare exhibits, electronic equipment and other delicate items without causing any harm. In fact, items can even be immersed in the agent.
