Well.... since the title is "8th grade science fail project ideas needed".

A quick search on the youtube for [science fail] gave me numerous results. Here goes one that looks good:

We did well making lemon batteries once that lit a small LED light. The next year we took the same concept, but instead separated H2 from the O in water using lemon power. He was able to learn about serial and parallel wiring, volts, ohms, amps, etc. LOL, the skills serve him well building coils for vaping.
