I went to a sanctuary the other day, it was peaceful and quiet, i been to the same place numerous times. I know its a unique place, where all kinds of dwellers from all over the world thrive, well, some thrive others just do what they usually do..
I come to the sanctuary for some peace and quiet, empty my mind and sometimes just watch people going around doing their business..

The thing about this place is that i know its a sanctuary, while others might not.. They tag their names in a unique symbolic graffiti style and try to make a claim to some weird stuff and say;" My turf, whzup! ".

Maybe informing people that its a sanctuary, would maybe provide for something better, something that would offer the whole community a sanctuary for some peace and quiet, instead of just a few exploiting the very essence of it..

I dont know, but i do know when i see people who are up to no good, they change into something unreal and ugly, despite fancy words or a nice suit.. I learned something along the way, even though a person might act nice, say lovely things.. What does your gut feeling tell you? Run?
Listen to your instinct at first and remember that feeling, cause in a sanctuary the rules and regulations will keep those who are up to no good in check?

So the next time you invite a someone, be sure that your gut feeling says;" Hey! This someone genuine!"

But for the sanctuary? I return, once in a while, just to clear my mind.

I used to sit in the park after midnight and listen to the silence of the world around me. so serene, silent, peaceful.

such a contrast to the business of the day in the sun... something so wonderful about the night. even in the midst of the chaos of suburbia..

I think I can relate to what you are saying.

I used to do home medical visits. My visits took me from the wealthy of the wealthiest, to the poorest of the poor. I have taken care of patients in sky top penthouses that encompass the whole floor of the building, mansions that take up acres, to the homeless living in cardboard boxes and in underpasses.

The one thing that all seemed surprised by, was the feeling of calm and peace they said that I brought to the place where they lived.

I have seen people standing in shock and awe to see me walk up their door with their vicious guard dog leading the way, trotting almost gleefully, being the one to escort me to their master. I have had them, one after the other, tell me how shocked they were that their dog or cat would even let me in the same room, let alone touch them, yet there they would be, lying in my lap or at my feet.

Animals have that gut sense of knowing when someone is there to help their ill masters, or there to do harm. I can sense in them a calming because they know I am there to help. A feeling similar to what you feel at your sanctuary.

By the way, I have only had the experience twice, but I have entered homes where the sense of dread was so strong that it made me physically ill. The atmosphere was so dense and heavy it was almost like trying to walk underwater, and it was difficult to breathe. In both cases I knew there was something very wrong with the place, but I couldn't put my finger on it. It wasn't the patient. I knew it wasn't just me, when one of the nurses that was also seeing the patient, asked me if I felt anything odd when I entered the house.

I do believe that we all have a ability to tell when something is off, just like animals. I just think that we work very hard at ignoring it.

A very famous psychologist I believed it was Adler once said in a similar way quoted;" We think dogs have a superior senses, they do, but the feeling "fear" and it telling us that something is not right is more accurate than anything else we are taught to believe".

Our senses can be exploited with a harmful intent or can warn us if we chose to listen. Fear is a strong motivator.

I love the night. Always have, even before I was born. My mom said I never moved in utero until the sun went down, then I would kick and move all night until the sun came up. She said as a child I would sleep during the day and want to stay up all night. She said my favorite spot was to crawl under the couch during the day to sleep. My family lovingly called me the little vampire.

An old fart and nothing has changed. I am still that lover of the night, even if I am forced to have function during the day.
