Oh, that was a good one, too.

If ever a warning about over reliance on technology was ever made!!

Was that the one with Nomad? Jeez I feel a marathon re-watch is just around the corner

Another great episode is the one where Kirk is on trial for negligence. Star Trek always did court dramas very well in every series.

Those were the episodes that stuck with most of us, I think.

Even Balance of Terror has that mystery. Who the heck are the Romulans? ...and why do they look like Vulcans?

That has been explored, though, in both TNG and in the expanded universe in general.

There's always been an undercurrent, not very well explored, of an older, much older, much more advance race of Progenitors (for lack of a better name) that might just still be around. Organians. The race from Assignment: Earth. The Kalandans from That Which Survives.

The movie Balance of Terror most resembles is Enemy Below, with the immortal Kurt Jurgens playing the u-boat commander.

Great, great movie.

"You know Heinie, I think that Fuhrer of yours is a madman."
Sixteen hot torpedoes and politically incorrect mein Kapitan.
And don't forget to have your fingers run over with a depth
charge before the Caine Mutiny. There goes the violin lessons.

INSERT: Thanks for the brief diversion Sea, I needed one.

The Menagerie. Jeffery Hunter does Christopher Pike 'after' pic, and
he gets to keep Susan Oliver (Vina) at the end. AND THAT girl is some
unashamedly angel food cupcake
Maybe my second crush.

Almost as good as Reality Forbidden. I forgot the author, but
it was the most tear-jerking and fast read I ever did.

Well if you want to include TNG (unfair, I know..)

Wasn't there a race that ventured out and seeded the galaxy with their DNA? (All except the gene that's responsible for how our foreheads look
)

I can't remember the name of the episode!

I know the one your referring to. That could have been done so much better. There's so much story there to be had.

I know, I mentioned TNG... Shame on me!!

Does this count as a TOS episode?

Nope.

That scene with the flyby of the Enterprise, after so many years? It actually got an emotional response from me... The movie itself was meh, but that scene--goosebumps, baby.

Agreed. An interesting thought is now they have a hole in the cast with the passing of Anton Yelchin. I've heard they aren't going to replace him and find another actor to play Checkov. This is where you could add a Gary Mitchell to the crew (I think he was originally a helmsman as well?) and maybe retell the story.

As long as they don't destroy the Enterprise again. Poor ship gets busted up every movie now...

Same here, that episode had a little of everything that made the characters endearing.

Space Seed gets my vote.

Montalbán gave a great performance as Khan.

20th-century Eugenics producing a race of supermen, great plot!

Good episode, and many consider it to be one of the, if not the, best episodes of the series. One of the reasons the storyline was continued in Wrath of Khan.

Conscience of a King, anyone?

That could explain why they were never rescued...!! Couldn't kill of The Gilligan, so they left him marooned on that uncharted desert isle...on the bright side--Ginger and Mary-anne.

That explains everything, like it wasn't the M/V Minnow but rather the SS Minnow, Starship Minnow? With the skipper as Captain, the Professor her Science Officer, Gilligan Security Chief, Mary-Anne Medical Officer, Ginger a green Orion slave girl...mmm Ginger...and the Howel's as the first envoy from he Ferengi home world...who knew??
