Personally I'd love to see the law applied to the elite in general.

Money and socioeconomic position in the hierarchy still equates to extra "credibility and standing" and they can buy their way out of punitive consequences.

They don't always escape but it's typical they don't even face scrutiny to begin with.

Incorrect.

The outcome is prison if convicted, and if that's the sentence.

Jail is where you start awaiting trial unless you post bail. Hillary might do a whole 12 hours then bail out.

So jail isnt a threat of automatic conviction.

Jail and prison are very different.

You're giving Trump way too much credit for parsing words. Besides months of encouraging "lock her up!", he said days before, in re to the emails, that "she should be in prison, let me tell you". Prison, not jail.
