I like bean bag rounds from a 12 gauge.

Less lethal when needed but you can with the right shotgun take someone down for the count of they have a gun.

To stop someone you fire at the upper legs but if they come up with a weapon you go for the chest or head.

I recall posts on ATS wanted the removal of tasers because somebody with an unknown heart issue died from one.

Anybody remember the Russians trying "knock out gas" on that theater?

The guy in New York wasn't even shot and still died.

People died from the "rubber bullets" used in the 70's.

I can go on and on.

Me, I'm allergic the the chemical that makes peppers hot. If I get hit with pepper spray, odds are I'm dead.

Personally, I'm very against nonlethal weapons...

First, because Murphy tells us friendly fire, ISN'T!

This correlates to another maxim you can count on.
non-lethal weapons, AREN'T!

There's no such thing as a nonlethal weapon, just ones that don't kill very often.

My issue though, is that if the wielder feels like using it doesn't risk killing the subject their inhibitions to use and abuse of the weapon and power itself drop radically.

If you disagree look up the Stanford or wherever university prison experiment...

It's not that I think cops etc are bad... Or good for that matter.

BUT

What I KNOW is that human nature SUCKS!

Basically the same reason I'm militantly pro 2nd amendment... Speaking bluntly, I'm not comfortable with any single individual or group having that kinda power over ANYONE else.

You make some good points.

All I was saying is that there is no such thing as a non-lethal weapon.

I was agreeing with you and further adding what my specific reservations are.

One or several truly nonlethal weapons being successfully invented would be about the worst thing that could possibly happen to humanity, and basically end all pretense of society being free and equal.

Anyone who watches the news every night sees how cheap life can become in the wrong circumstances.

Combine this with the how many millions of views the don't taze me bro video got when it first hit YouTube...

Yeah.
