For Immediate Release:

WHERE WAS GOD DURING THE HOLOCAUST?

Where was God? Religious people are asking that question, again and again, as the world observes the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945. A new web site offers an answer. www.BibleForetoldHolocaust.com... claims that God knew about the Holocaust ahead of time, and foretold in Scripture that it would happen.

David A. Reed, the site's creator, is the author of more than a dozen books on biblical and historical topics, including the popular "Jehovah's Witnesses Answered Verse by Verse" (Baker Book House) and "Blood on the Altar" (Prometheus Books). His books have sold half a million copies in six languages.

"When people cry out 'Where was God?' they may be protesting or complaining," Reed said, "but the question still deserves an answer."

Reed's new web site helps visitors find that answer in Scripture. He pulls references from the Old and New Testaments.

"Moses predicted that Israel would be uprooted from the Promised Land and scattered worldwide," the author explained, "and foretold the rise of antisemitism. Jesus, himself a Jew, quoted Daniel's prophecies and warned of a great tribulation on the Jews that would threaten to exterminate them -- so severe that 'except those days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.'"

"The prophet Daniel foretold a ruler who would try to wipe out the Jews, and into whose hand they would be delivered for three and a half years, precisely the length of time that Hitler's gas chambers operated."

"There's a lot of talk about remembrance," Reed went on, "but Jewish and Christian theologians and clergymen alike avoid discussing God and the Holocaust. It's a hot potato they don't want to handle."

BibleForetoldHolocaust.com tackles that issue head on, with an approach that is certain to provoke controversy.

"The issue is too painful. For many years I couldn't even think about it," Reed admitted. "It's like opening an old wound. But with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict spilling over now into world terror, and with antisemitism on the rise again, we don't have much choice."

Where was God during the Holocaust? It is all there in Scripture, according to the new web site. God knew ahead of time that diabolical enemies would seek to wipe out his Chosen People, and he inspired Bible writers to record in advance what would happen, and why, and how he would put a stop to it, so that the Jews would survive as a people to fulfill further prophecies.

Although timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the unveiling of the new web site has a long-range goal in Reed's mind: "My hope is that people visiting BibleForetoldHolocaust.com will be motivated to open their Bibles and look deeper into the Word of God."
