NASA has confirmed it to be an asteroid entry event. The lines after the fact is the contrail in the jet stream. It took over an hour to dissipate.

Yep, the wind did that to the trails.
I used to live about 15 miles north of Cape Canaveral/ Kennedy Space Center, and watched the differing wind directions turn the trail from the rocket launches all different ways.
I even saw one once that was a literal curly que.
