This is pretty typical of what will happen when a disease is finally under control. We'll see it emerging from time to time because it has "animal vectors" (it can infect animals as well as humans.) Good treatements are available now -- the one big issue is that the symptoms don't show up the minute you're infected, so there will be occasional quarrantines.

I did note they've upped the mortality rate...

(news story):
WHO Says SARS Petering Out, Lifts Taiwan Alert
By Patrick Chalmers and Robert Evans

KUALA LUMPUR/GENEVA (Reuters) - The World Health Organization (news - web sites) said Tuesday the worst is over in the battle against SARS (news - web sites) and lifted its warning against travel to Taiwan, leaving Beijing as the only place with an advisory in force.

But the United Nations (news - web sites) agency said health workers and emergency response centers must stay alert for fresh outbreaks of the illness, which kills some 15 percent of victims, and watch out for other new diseases.

The advice against unnecessary trips to Taiwan, issued a month ago as SARS cases surged there, was dropped because the situation on the island "has now improved significantly," WHO said in a statement.

hopefully SARS will back off, and this isn't just the disease going dormant for the summer season (as colds and flus do). since SARS is a retrovirus, that's not out of the question, but hopefully it's run its course in the human population for a while.
