Bush proposes Atlantic Tsunami Warning System

President Bush has pledged the construction of an ocean-wide Atlantic tsunami warning system. The system would integrate existing sensors and organizations with new equipment and inter-agency connections:

This move comes after a tsunami killed hundreds of thousands in the Indian ocean, where such killer waves are rare. In recent weeks speculation has grown that such an incident could occur in the relatively stable atlantic region.
