Screw it.. I'm gonna weigh in.. This all just a show. It's a win-win for the FBI and apple. Apple opposed the FBI, so the must be on our side and the FBI still got access to the phone. WIN-WIN. That's what it's been from the start. Encryption is encryption, depending on your cipher and length of cipher, encryption can take millions of years to crack.

Everyone is responsible for their own security, if you don't want the FBI to be able to access your digital content start studying and applying what you have learned. It's each individuals responsibility to make sure their security is up to scratch.

If you're icloud account gets hacked, tough luck buddy, that's your fault. But thank god people are stupid with passwords, otherwise 'the fappening' would've never happened

Holy crap. Maybe the country can cut loose a bunch of well paid IT guys if they are having to spend this kind of money.

I bet this isn't the first purchase.

FBI paid more than $1M for San Bernardino iPhone "hack"

FBI Director James Comey alluded to the fact the bureau paid more than $1 million for the method used to disable the security feature of the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone.

At an Aspen Institute discussion in London, Comey said the FBI paid more money than he would make in the time left as FBI director. He has over seven years left on his term and makes roughly just under $200,000 a year based on public files.

"How much did you pay for this software?" Comey was asked.

" A lot," he said

"Really?"

"More - let's see. More than I will make in the remainder of this job, which is seven years and four months, for sure," Comey said.
