Bitching Betty retires

Leslie Shook has flown on every single F-18 Super Hornet flight for the last 20 years,and saved multiple lives, but most pilots couldn't tell you who she is. She has been the voice of Bitching Betty, the pilot warning system, that tells pilots of everything from being too low, to problems with the aircraft.

In 1995, she was a media producer for Boeing, and was filling in for a sound engineer recording the additional messages for the Hornet warning system (many of the messages were transferred from the F-15). She was overheard demonstrating how she wanted the messages to sound to the person hired to record them, and a star was born.

For her retirement Boeing took her to an Air Force hangar and put her into the cockpit of one of the aircraft her voice is heard in.

That voice really does catch your attention. I was in the back seat of an F-15D doing a single engine run, and she was going nuts because the other engine wasn't running.

friendly, just listen.....pull up..... and it's a rule that you have to do what she says....
