time after time - threads and posts appear on ATS that claim that a photograph is " wrong " or fake

these are invartably the product of the members lack of understanding of the physics of photography

this thread hopes to address this

i will start with the link that clearly shows the failings of most of the common arguments aimed at astrophotography presentations

the beulty of that link is that its verifiable structures on earth -

sadly the creators have not supplied any supporting material - that would make it an awesome stand alone teaching tool

Similar to your seasickness-inducing GIF
, the image below is another example of how different focal lengths can affect the final image.

In this case, when the focal length becomes greater, the photographer needs to move farther away from the three cans. By the time we get to 300 mm focal length, the photographer has moved back several more meters than the first 24 mm focal length image -- and the cans are far enough away that the difference in perspective from the closest can to the farthest can has become far less relevant.
