If you're talking military intelligence, you are better off joining the military after you already have a college degree. If you are talking CIA, then a military intelligence background takes less time, or you could enter the CIA with a college degree...likely working for the FBIS (Foreign Broadcast Information Service) and then work your way to being a Case Officer. Of course, the Skull and Bones membership wouldn't hurt, if you want to have any chance of working on the super secret stuff.

The CIA Entrance Exam is no piece of cake! There is a really good guide on it though, but it is out of print...good luck finding it....

What the #$%^ is an "intelligence officer"?

I was in a Military Intelligence unit. We had officers. To be in a military intelligence unit:

You have to be in the military

You have to be intelligent. Which is an entirely different thing from being sensible, or pragmatic.

You have to have a Top Secret clearance with Access to Special Intelligence. There are two kinds of people who get TS/ASI clearance: The naive, and those who didn't get caught.

To be an officer, you have to have a college education. Show leadership abilities. Weasel your way into an officers training program. And do all sorts of politics. AKA, brownnosing.

To be an officer in a Military Intelligence unit: All of the above.
