What is there to do and see while DH is at a trade show for 4 days (from the moment it opens until the moment it closes) I would get really tired of gambling for that length of time.

You can go to an all female review! Just kidding. It is an excellent place to people watch. If you enjoy a few drinks, you can go to any casino bar and just watch the people blow their money. You can go to the Bilagio and see the fountains, which are amazing. You can go to Treasure Island Casino and see the pirate show for free. Many many shops to explore. Check out Freemont st., which is the older Vegas strip.

I am sure you will find many things to do that aren't expensive. Be sure to have a good pair of walking shoes though.

Just make sure you don't get handed those pamphlets from the solicitors on the streets - they are annoying.

I have to say I am SO boring -- I don't really drink - so when I do one usually puts me down and I'm not a shopper. DH complains that he has to take me shopping to get me to buy things (Bet most of you men would love that problem huh?) I love to people watch and have seen the pirate show once - but I hear that it has changed so I will probably do that. Will be going to the "Thunder Down Under" show so I guess I'm not that boring Does the Bilagio have the art galleries etc. -- I'll probably wander over there for that .

Keep the ideas coming I'm making a list.

No, I didn't. I don't think I even knew they had a coaster up there until I saw it on TV - then I knew I wouldn't ride it! I don't think I would feel very secure on that thing.

Found a few things to print out including the link you gave me. Watching the Travel Channel -- they are having a LOT of stuff on Vegas right now. And am starting to go to the Rec. Center to use the indoor track to break in my new walking shoes and build up my endurance also.

Forgot to mention the ignoring the people who hand out the pamphlets -- not a problem. I think that is genetically built into NY'ers

Yeah! Both Travel channel and TLC both have shows on Vegas - maybe they are paid by the Vegas tourism council or something. When do you plan on going?

I stayed at the Luxor (giant pyramid). The inside was really impressive in size. The elevators were kinda neat too as they travel, not vetically, but diagonally up the sides at each corner. If I went again, though, I would probably like to stay at the New York, New York. I thought the miniature skyline was really nice commercial architecture.

Yes, I do think the Bellagio has a gallery - but don't quote me on that. Another thing to be seen is the Venice theme in the Venetian, which sorrily I did not get to see. I hear the indoor river is a half mile long, with vendors and shops along the way.

I love the SouthWest and if you get the chance, go out to see the local geographic sights as well if you love natural beauty of the environment.

We are going the end of the month for the Shot Show. Going to try Excalibur this time. Our friends we are meeting had a special for there.

I love the Southwest also - I have been going out to AZ for about 20 years because of an aunt who lived outside of Phoenix (she passed away last year) so I did a lot of traveling around when I was there. Once I get her estate (doesn't that sound impressive -- wish it were ) settled I guess I won't have a reason to head out there anymore.

I have to ask what is a Shot Show?? I briefly walked through Excaliber. I wish I could see the show there, but alas, I really wish I could even take a nice vacation right now.

When I was in my teens, I got the chances to visit the SW quite a few times. My dear Dad took me to the Grand Canyon twice and California once. I went on a geology trip in high school once all over the SW states, went out on vacation on a mad tour with my ex-wife, and visited Vegas as a bachelor on a spontaneous spurt. I wish I was living in a lonely ranch house in front of a nice southwest mountain range!

The Shot Show is a trade show for gun dealers. It's actually held at the Convention Center. Of course we will have to go to a gun show that is at one of the hotels near the Excalibur - just can't think of the name now (must be late) Lots of neat new stuff there. Plus I am looking forward to meeting the people who make the smoker I surprised DH with -- that has had about a ton of fish thru it already (Plus ribs, chickens, roasts)

I live about 120 miles out of NYC -- more country/tourist area. In fact pretty close to my avatar

Boy I wish I could go. I haven't been to a gun show in about 18 years now. Is your hubby a dealer in arms or just other associated things?

By the way, the avatar is very nice. I would love to sit there by that lighthouse and watch the waves roll in over those rocks and think about a warm sun - especially since it is a wet snowy winter here in Ohio!

DH is a gun dealer and competitive shooter (sporting clays) so he is in his element there for sure. I can walk thru the show in one day and see everything I need to see and talk to everyone I need to talk to -- but DH has the gift of gab and it will literally take him every day of the show and every hour they are open to see what he wants to see and talk to the people. Plus of course it gives him a chance to talk to some people he has dealt with on the phone also.

We may have lucked out a bit -- one of DH's customers is building a resort out there and talked to his executive secty.... she is going to try to get a list from their corporate contact and also get some tickets for some shows. Cool huh?

Came down with full blown flu the night before leaving --- so I am home. Sent DH as it was his trade show to begin with and our friends were already there -- they took the red-eye from Anchorage. I'm feeling majorily bummed right now in addition to being majorily sick.
