Any change in profile to something as recognized as the 747 makes it look bizarre. The 747 they modified for James Bond still sits at Dunsfold Aerodrome. They removed the 2 outer engines and used the mounts for external fuel tanks and then put double engine ponds on the other mount. Even that looks unnatural.
