A cosmologist says he's found possible signs of a parallel universe

Being a believer in parallel universes and time-slip phenomena, and having had a possible encounter with the former, I have Checks in place to make sure I'm where I'm supposed to be. I had just been talking to some friends this past week about feeling "off" in the mornings when I wake up...I had to use my checks for the first time in years and my husband ended up experiencing the same feeling on the same day earlier this week.

Anyone else have Time-slip, or alternate reality run-ins that this would lend credence to?

Text: "The idea of a multitude of parallel universes existing alongside our own is not new, but trying to find evidence of this phenomenon is proving about as tricky as you might expect. But one cosmologist thinks he might have found evidence of a parallel universe brushing against our own as far back at the beginning of time.

To appreciate what Ranga-Ram Chary from the California Institute of Technology has found, it's important to first understand how our own Universe came into being. For hundreds of thousands of years after the Big Bang, the particles that existed were too hot and energetic to form into atoms: the point at which this started happening, some 300,000 years after the Big Bang, is known as recombination. It also marks the time when cosmic background radiation (CMB) started spreading through the Universe - a signal scientists use to look back into time and formulate their theories.

What Chary has spotted is a bump or a 'bruise' in this cosmic background radiation - and that could mean a collision with a parallel universe. Cosmologists believe that the 'bubbles' of separate universes could be colliding with each other, depositing some material along the way, just like normal soap bubbles bumping into each other would.

So can we start plotting a course to this brand new universe right away? Well, not exactly. Interpreting CMB signals is notoriously difficult, and Chary himself believes there's a 30 percent chance that what he's found is just background noise and not a tell-tale sign of a neighbouring universe at all. It could also be a large spot of space dust.

"I suspect that it would be worth looking into alternative possibilities," David Spergel from Princeton University told Joshua Sokol at New Scientist. "The dust properties are more complicated than we have been assuming, and I think that this is a more plausible explanation."

"Joseph Silk of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, is even more pessimistic, calling claims of an alternate universe 'completely implausible'," adds Sokol. "While he thinks the paper is a good analysis of anomalies in Planck data, Silk also believes something is getting in the way. 'My view is that they are almost certainly due to foregrounds.'"

The data used by Chary was taken from the European Space Agency's powerful Planck telescope. By subtracting CMB models from Planck's picture of the Universe, he discovered patches of signals some 4,500 times brighter than they should have been, based on the number of protons and electrons scientists believe existed in the very early universe.

At this stage, it's just an hypothesis, and looking billions of years back into the past isn't at all straightforward, but progress is being made all the time. Chary told Jennifer Ouellette at Gizmodo that he hopes to have more comprehensive results within a couple of years, though his ideas might not be proved one way or the other until the next generation of space scanning technology comes online (estimated at 15 to 20 years).

"Unusual claims like evidence for alternate universes require a very high burden of proof," he writes in his report, published online at arXiv.org. "Searching for these alternate universes is a challenge."

As far as challenges go, Chary sure has a big one on his hands. "

I'd like to know more about how you conduct your checks.

Simple stuff, things that tie me to this reality. I check my phone to verify the date, I check my nightstand for my anchors (specific objects I keep there for this very reason), check the living room (is the furniture mine, in the right place, etc.).

To anyone else it just looks like I'm waking up, walking into the front room on my way to the coffee pot, etc....but I'm actually verifying that I am where I'm supposed to be.

reality checks

I actually woke up one day on a different earth.

no bs I started noticing stuff not right around the house then took a drive and it was very strange how everything was the same but different. I even made a thread about it a couple yrs back.

I'm prompted to share a thread of mine from 2012 about time-slips and alternative universe which had a great response and would be remiss of me not to include it.

LOVING the Temporal Illusion thread, I'm going to have to research that a bit!!

If holographic universe theory is partly correct, it could be they were adding some code that day ?

For anyone wanting to see the scientist in question's credentials: www.its.caltech.edu...

Appears to work at the Planck Data Center Infrared Processing & Analysis Center. That will likely mean more to people who aren't me. :p

From the New Scientist article (partly quoted in the source above as well in the original post):

Chary acknowledges that his idea is as tentative as it is exciting. “Unusual claims like evidence for alternate universes require a very high burden of proof,” he writes.

He makes an effort to rule out more prosaic explanations. If it is dust, Chary argues, it would be the coldest dust we’ve ever seen. It’s probably not noise masquerading as a signal. It could be carbon monoxide moving toward us, but we don’t usually see that. It could be faraway carbon, but that emission is too weak.

“I am certain he made every effort to ensure that the analysis is solid,” says Chluba. Even so, foregrounds and poorly understood patterns could still be the source of the signals. “It will be important to carry out an independent analysis and confirm his finding,” Chluba says.

One obstacle to checking is that we’re limited by the data itself. Planck was hyper-sensitive to the cosmic microwave background, but it wasn’t intended to measure the spectral distortions Chary is looking for. Johnson’s team also plans to use Planck to look for their own alternate universes, once the data they need is released to the public – but they estimate that Planck will only make them twice as sensitive to the bubble collisions they’re looking for as they were with WMAP.

An experiment that could help might be on its way. Scientists at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center plan to submit PIXIE, the Primordial Inflation Explorer, to be considered for funding at the end of 2016.

PIXIE’s spectral resolution could help characterise Chary’s signals if they really are there, Chluba says. But even if they aren’t, reconstructing how inflation happened could still lead us once again back to the multiverse – and tell us what kind of bubble collisions we should look for next

perhaps
it was definitely based on they way things were the day before but small changes like the neighbors house different colors and porches where there was none before. many of the houses were empty for a few days then everything seemed to morph into a closer version of the previous.

here is the thread I made at the time

I really did not speak of it at the time but there was spiritual talk that I destroyed the place I left.

You got a hard time with that post. The trouble is that unless the others see what we have seen, they can't understand. Strange that some of them believe in things they haven't seen (i.e. their god) but won't believe what happened to you.
Only way to describe it is like having flu (the sort that gives you hallucinations), but you know you're 100% coherent.

I see the replies as more of a tactic to steer others away from any knowledge of such.

I have learned not to take it personal and if everyone knew the truth then the system would fail.

I made a promise before this life that I would highlight the truth but no promises of acceptance were ever made.

you mention the flu and I have found that that is a method of making changes to the system.

QFE.

Ironic right? That's why the coined phrase "Sheeple", is so appropriate.

To the OP, I guess they're finally admitting to the "Aether". It's taken them long enough to absorb the notion...

In one universe he's making a mountain out of a molehill, in another, a molehill out of a mountain. In one universe he's a publicity-seeking scientist, in another, a caterer and one of the best cooks in Norway!
