The Great Exorcism Boom

I'm personally not into scripture, but I have wondered at times in my life if the Devil is the god of this world, because of all the evil that has happened (not just by individuals but also by the cruelty of circumstance itself.) We've all known evil people who had "the luck of the devil." Does anyone good come into wealth, fame or success in this world? Seems that the few who do, or try to, are in one sense or another crucified for it.
