WAR: Defense Department Plan: Lock up Uncharged Detainees For Life.

Who came up with this insane proposal? Send the ignoramuses back to grade school civics class. Have them study the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution 10,000 times until they know it by heart, and then make them write 1,000 times on a squeaky chalk board that "I will not recommend programs or behaviors that are treason to the principles on which the United States of America was founded!" And then fire their sorry a$$es because they are already traitors to these principles. Better yet, let's reserve a special bed for each and every one of them in the hell hole of a "hospital" they are recommending for people who cannot be proven to have committed any worng! This alone is a great evil!

The US "war on terrorism" is becoming the excuse du jour for the expression of vile and sadistic tendencies of our (mis)leaders. Our administration's contempt for human rights and the fundamental principles that the US was founded upon is astounding. The Declaration of Independence states: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness * * *." Nothing in the US Declaration of Independence limits these principles to US citizens, to the group of individuals currently in positions of authority, to the agencies of government, or denies their application to nationals of other countries or to those whom our narrow-minded sadistic leaders like to characterize with labels that seem to serve no purpose other than as an excuse to treat them as "things" to be manipulated for some political or personal end of those holding power.

We in the US have acquired a cadre of unaccountable power mongers in Washington DC. They spend the monetary, moral, and political capital of this once great nation as though these have no value whatsoever.

The public is being conditioned to accept inhumane, evil, sadistic, degrading, and outrageous treatment of others as though it were just a normal way of going about governmental business. First, the victims are those whom the majority despises, then gradually this treatment will be applied to those who are merely disfavored, and before you know it you'll see some folks who seemed like nice people being labeled and hauled away.

The parallels to Nazi Germany are frightening. This is just the beginning. And what do they intend to do to those poor pathetic suspected terrorists in these very expensive clandestine private military hospitals? What kind of inhuman experimentation will they be subjected to, all by our good well meaning protectors of the greater good, of course, just like Herr Goebbels, Himmler, the SS, and the good Dr. Mengele?

This is what happens when you wage wars against vague words, phrases, and ideas. The WAR ON DRUGS! The WAR ON HUNGER! The WAR ON TERRORISM! The WAR ON _______ (fill in the blank)! Every single "WAR ON SOMETHING" other than a real definable enemy has been an utter failure, disaster, and rife with the vilest kinds of corruption practiced by those in charge of the effort. It's time we said "ENOUGH! WE WILL NOT STAND FOR ANY MORE OF THIS!"

Sadly, the majority of US citizens are gutless uninformed cowards who don't give a rat's a$$ about what their leaders do to anyone so long as it doesn't interfere with a favorite soap opera or some other insipid evening drivel laced with brainless commercials urging utterly pointless conduct.

And spare me the usual fallback on "911" as an excuse for retaliatory atrocities. Until you show who committed the acts that brought down the twin towers, and answer the funadamental questions about what happened that day, it isn't a valid excuse for anything that we are currently doing abroad.

Frankly, I don't know whether the perpetrators are the scapegoated Islamic Terrorists or are from among us and sitting in some comfy highbrow penthouses, boardrooms, or offrices in DC and Manhattan and having a good laugh every day at how stupid and gullible the common man is.

The people with responsibility of determining what happened by applying scientific analysis and modern investigative methods and techniques (ala CSI) have utterly failed to perform their duty and are traitors to this nation and to the world and should be brought to account. But they won't. Why? Because they hold great political and economic power and those who want honest answers to these issues don't.

The world is getting it in the Ar$e and it seems that all we can do is watch and hope it doesn't get too close to home too soon. And if it does, well, we can hope those expensive lifetime hospital beds reserved for mere suspects have comfy mattresses, pillows, clean sheets, and attractive nurses wearing short skirts.

I wonder when will the first american born "terrorist" who is against world domination, try to blew himself up. Then you will have a whole new enemy, your fellow citizens. Maybe after that you understand "terrorism" or "enemy combatant"...Some people are locked up because they fought at their birth countrys army. Some are locked up because they continued the war efforts against usa�s invasion of iraq. Some are locked up because their political and religious beliefs. So when they start locking up americans who are tired to their leaders?

Hell some people have been locked up recently for wearing the wrong teeshirts to political conventions. It's already gone too far. The same folks that have been in the business of war profiteering since the 40's are now officially above the law. We are witnessing the meltdown of American Principle, and when I have to explain to my kids why there is a camera on their school bus, you bet your arse I'm telling them why.

A reported U.S. plan to keep some suspected terrorists imprisoned for a lifetime even if the government lacks evidence to charge them in courts was swiftly condemned on Sunday as a "bad idea" by a leading Republican senator.

The Pentagon and the CIA have asked the White House to decide on a more permanent approach for those it was unwilling to set free or turn over to U.S. or foreign courts, the Washington Post said in a report that cited intelligence, defense and diplomatic officials.

Some detentions could potentially last a lifetime, the newspaper said.

Influential senators denounced the idea as probably unconstitutional.

"It's a bad idea. So we ought to get over it and we ought to have a very careful, constitutional look at this," Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said on "Fox News Sunday."

I have a feeling this will never happen...it's too far out there.

I think it will happen or something very close to it.

If it doesn�t happen, maybe they will just be shipped off to the appropriate country to be tortured there.

They need the precedent of treating �terrorists� and �enemy combatants� different than "good citizens�.

They already have nebulous definitions in place and have already sowed the idea of stripping �terrorists� of US citizenship.

And now we have this idea of �permanent� detention.

We have a vocal Republican senator calling for the White House to toss the ball (put into play by Rumsfeld�s Pentagon and Goss�s new �revamped� CIA) over to Justice under the pretense of taking �a very careful, constitutional look at this�.

And who over at Justice will hit the ball out of the park?

The same guy who called the Geneva Conventions �quaint� and gave George Bush his �legal� justification for torture?

Question� how long before they become too much of a financial burden before a decision is made to just kill them on the battlefield or a �final solution� is implemented in secret.
