Apparently this decomposing creature was spotted in Barren County, Kentucky, USA last month. The person who discovered it was puzzled by it. Described as having only thick, coarse hair on its back she first thought it might be a hyena.

But the Huff post states a wildlife expert dismissed this idea.

....the head did have similar characteristics that look like a canine species in ways, but the rest of the body did not. The ears did not match, the feet are longer and narrower, the teeth weren't right for a dog, coyote, wolf or fox...

This is not a new story and is actually a month old now. I stumbled on it whilst looking for information on something completely different. I can’t see anything related to it on here so thought it might interest someone.

There has been speculation it is a variety of dead creatures including a Virginian Opossum. However maybe someone out there can recognise it and help out the young lady who found it?

The best idea I saw was that it was some kind of an otter.
