Here's another one for the 'Hollywood conspiracy' theorists

The story picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has died under mysterious circumstances and his funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. What starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the President of the United States of America Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart), his formidable Secret Service lead agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), and a British MI6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one.[4]

Are we being subconsciously fed fear and propaganda or is this just harmless 'entertainment'?
Don't get me wrong, I love a well made intelligent action/disaster flick just like the next guy.
I didn't see the first one (Olympus Has Fallen, in which north Korean terrorists attack the White House)
But from what I gather it did ok in the box office but it wasn't that great a film and the reviews were mixed at best, so what's the point of a sequel, now set in London?
Just cashing in from the success of the first?
For what it's worth at least it's got Morgan Freeman, even if only to fill the ubiquitous 'Morgan Freeman type' role, hey I love him!

I don't know who the actual 'bad guys' in this one are, but yeah why not.
It could be any of these according to recent reports:
London has fallen to immigrants
London has fallen due to signal failure (tube, trains)
London has fallen due to the wrong type of heat
London has fallen to hipsters
London has fallen due to housing crisis
etc..

(note: not all are my actual opinion)

Not like america to step in near the end and claim all the credit for saving us.

If it was realistic there would be no mandatory car chase, just a guy progressively becoming more irritated, swearing at suicidal cyclists and sitting in congestion zone traffic for 3 hours.

Well that's a given isn't it with this type of film...

Haha, I'd love to see Gerard Butler trying to navigate rush hour london, becoming increasingly irritated over the course of the movie. He'd wish he was fighting terrorists instead!

I liked the 1st movie a lot, it was a fun action flick in the mold of the early Die Hard movies so I'm looking forward to it.
In terms of conspiracies, a lot of inspiration for espionage & spy v/tmovies come from known conspiracy theories.
I see a lot of what we discuss here being used in TV & movies all the time, Person of Interest is probably reading these forums for some of the stories they come up with. The show is based around a super computer with an AI that is monitoring all camera's, mobiles, any connectable device and stops terrorist plots for the government. It's a black budget program that has people from all walks of life being murdered just to protect "The machine". Sounds familiar doesn't it?

So a lot of it is because the show writers keep up with these types of stories as inspiration rather than any nefarious plot to tell us all the conspiracies covertly as fiction. Lets be honest most conspiracies are just that, fiction. I've been here long enough to see that.

I have a theory that inspiration for this movie may have it's roots from some of the conspiracies surrounding the Olympic games in 2012. Those were fun times, lol.

Oh I'm sure that some screen writers do get a lot of inspiration from stuff that pops up in internet conspiracy forums all the time.
Yeah, I remember the doom porn excitement and expectation in some threads before the games started, lol.
Almost as good as the 2012 mayan apocalypse stuff, (which I admit I even jumped in the bandwagon, haha)

But I also recall all the supposed coincidences and warnings regarding 9/11 found in some movies and tv shows years before it happened, so who knows, the conspiracist in me still wants to believe in subliminal foreshadowing by TPTB or Hollywood.
