Turkish Airlines flight 1878 suffered an engine fire and landing gear collapse while attempting to land today.

The flight originated in Milan and was attempting to land in Istanbul. It was operated by aircraft TC-JPE, which first flew in 2006. According to passengers, as the aircraft attempted to land, the right wing dropped, striking the runway. The pilots were able to get airborne again, and made a second attempt, reporting the right engine was on fire.

It's not clear if the right main landing gear collapsed then, or on the second attempt at landing, but it twisted and snapped back into the right wing, causing damage to it, and causing the aircraft to spin on the runway. There were 97 people on board, all were evacuated and taken to a terminal with no injuries reported.
