S&
for the long reply. Your stance makes me think of Hobbes, which reminds me of a George Monbiot article. Hope you appreciate it.

When Thomas Hobbes claimed that in the state of nature, before authority arose to keep us in check, we were engaged in a war “of every man against every man”, he could not have been more wrong. We were social creatures from the start, mammalian bees, who depended entirely on each other. The hominins of east Africa could not have survived one night alone. We are shaped, to a greater extent than almost any other species, by contact with others. The age we are entering, in which we exist apart, is unlike any that has gone before.

This really is an exciting time to be alive, and it's likely a lot of us will be alive for far longer than any of our predecessors thanks to medical breakthroughs like this!

Not really. All the breakthroughs to date don't even result in diagnosis for most people. It's a kind of "financial triage" thing - doctors don't even tell patients what's wrong if they know said patients can't afford the treatment(s). No reason to think this tech will be any different. Except in the experimental stage. Enter Africa and other needy undeveloped nations full of desperate patients.

If these guys really wanted to help people, they'd focus on fibrosis aka sclerosis. Fibrosis is THE plague that's been knocking mankind down for past 3/4 of a century. It's incurable, and causes pretty near every chronic disease of the "Non-communicable disease" pandemic. Including diabetes. And probably cancer too (dysplasia/fibroplasia (fibrosis) to hyperplasia to neoplasia).

NOTE: The disease name changes depending on where the fibrosis is located in the body, and whether or not it has progressed to sclerosis or beyond.
