Best battery when on the go?

I have a few battery operated gagets I take with me when I travel and was wondering what batteries to use? I've read that alkaline is supposed to be the best because it has a longer life than cheap heavy duty ones and operates better in high and low temperatures. I guess you get what you pay for when it comes to these things right?

I think the best batteries are still Energizer. Dont bother buying the silver ones, they are almost the same. It's dumb to pay a few more bucks to get something that lasts just 15 mins longer.
