Well, this is how I am currently feeling. Anybody else feeling it?

The purposeful procession of thought
forcing conclusions less thought out,
death like urgency to bring resolution
to fear, confusion, and doubt.

Mental mechanics trying to fix it
when broken is only an opinion,
swaying like a drunken dancer
who has forgotten the steps.

Opposing thoughts shouting “pick me,”
convinced they are the answer.
They compete like small children
trying to capture the teachers attention.

Listening for a while but choosing silence.
Lips are tightly closed less they expose,
the awful dread of boldness
and the chance of being wrong.

Words form into streams of thought
and become wide rivers
pouring out self dialogue,
like a muddy river hides the bottom.

The clarity of thought tainted
by the erosion of truth,
it offers no solace, only a fierce current
and an inescapable eddy.

Hello there my friend. I was hoping you would be back soon. Hope your knee is mending well to. Well i have been there so many times i could change my name to eddy!..I love the writing. The expression of getting it out onto paper or here always feels good to. Its a hard road or (River) sometimes. But it always passes eventually. And i will always gladly swim with you through the currents and to the safety of that pub. Where i can then buy us a pint

Thanks Doc! My knee surgeries went really well and it has already meant a world of difference. I am very excited abut this next spring when I can get back to fly fishing, golf and rock hounding. Right now I am fighting a bad chest cold but I am feeling better every day. I hope your world is going well and you are enjoying this thing we call life. If I can swing it I would love to come visit your country and take you up on that pint!

Hey greyeagle - I appreciate the poem! Glad you are on the mend from knee surgery. Hope you feel better from the cold!!! Drowning in muddied words? I like the metaphor...

peace,
AB

It is always wonderful when you stop by and comment. I have no local community of writers to connect with so friends like you are my lifeline. Both my knees appear to be healing well and I am looking forward to rejoining the rest of my mobile friends. I hope you had a great thanksgiving!
