Posted: 12:06 a.m. EDT June 1, 2003

SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korea says its navy fired warning shots after three North Korean fishing boats entered the South's territory on Sunday.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The incident occurred near Yongpyong Island west of the Korean peninsula.

A defense ministry spokesman says the fishing boats turned back when its ships fired the warning shots.

Sounds pretty serious, must be one heck of a fishing hole!

Seriously though, that don't make for very proper public relations, I feel the problem with the Koreans is they are too uptight. I believe their military posture is a bit extreame. And very often is more BARK than bite.

Trawlers are often used as spying vessels.

Then to cap it all, fishing rights are a very contentious issue that can hide a myriad of schemes, none of which actually have anything to do with fish.

North Korea sends them over now and again to keep the South Koreans on their toes.
