(NOTE: "Constellations" are only a construct of Earth, grouping together star clusters as we see them into imagined beings and animals, to make it easier to see them in the night sky, and help chart the seasons. Ancient man's preoccupation with distant stars and constellations is thought by many to relate to visitations by extra-terrestrials who lived around some of those distant stars, since our Moon phases were better and more detailed for charting the seasons.

(Many times the visiting ETs from those distant constellations, were depicted as Earth animals they most closely resembled. The Stars involved have also moved/changed in several thousand years, although the Orion Cluster was important for ancient civilizations from the Meditterrean to the American SW Pueblo Indians.

ASTRONOMICAL FIND: ANCIENT GREEK WINE CUP MAY SHOW STAR CONSTELLATIONS
"A piece of ancient pottery, called a skyphos, may actually contain one of the earliest Greek depictions of the constellations, a new analysis shows.

"The study researchers suggested that other ancient artistic representations of animals may also portray constellations, and hold clues to what the early Greeks knew about astronomy, said study researcher John Barnes, a classical archaeology doctoral candidate at the University of Missouri.

""If we go back and re-evaluate other animal scenes that might have been originally categorized as hunting scenes or animal friezes, then maybe we can find more [depictions of constellations] and get a greater understanding of how the ancient Greeks viewed the night sky," Barnes told Live Science.

they had knowledge of the stars.

Things like the plague wiped out much of our history, That and hostile take overs as well as assimilation.

Knowledge is constantly being lost and obtained.

I gather the black blague/bubonic plague had the greatist impact on europe. During that time Christanity was heavily enforced and any worship of the stars was pretty much prohibited because you would be labled a pagan. They hunted witches and burned texts during those times.

And that's just as early as our records have before we have to jump to the crusades, Which only has fragments of documents here and there that survived.

There was a time when people thought the world was flat. But even more hilariously before then people knew the world was a planet.

It's like we take one step forwards and 2 steps back. 3 steps forwards and 2 steps back one step forward and 2 steps back 4 steps forwards and 2 steps back lol ect ect ect.

All the depictions of constelations in Egypt and the fact that the greeks named the planets after gods themselves should be enough to know that not to long before then people knew that they lived on a planet.

Makes you wonder what the earliest civilization before babylon looked like post flood. So much missing time, And the only things that remain from pre-flood are monuments and ruins strewn throughout the Earth.

Some native cultures around the globe believe we were put here by star people, Some even have knowledge of constellations/galaxies they simply could not see without a telescope. Pretty cool. History is like the desert sands. Shifting and blowing, where treasures are revealed, Others sink in the sand. Constantly shifting through the deserts unchartable maze.

I posted a thread a few weeks back about a site in Poland that contained evidence of people grouping stars into constellations. In this instance, it was the Big Dipper (aka the Plow/Plough).

Ritual Astronomical Observations — 9,000 Years Ago!

What they found were a set of wooden stakes that had been arrange in the positions of the stars in the Big Dipper along with fragments of a meteorite. It's pretty clear that the origins of the concept of constellations goes far back, beyond the horizon of recorded history.

Very true! I had a friend years ago who did a skychart of my birthday. It shows an artificial satellite. He had no explanation, nor did I. Perhaps it was the Black Knight, the ET satellite that's been up there for thousands of years.

Here are some current sites for "Birthday Skycharts," if anyone is interested:
