I am still unsure where I originally ran across this nifty extension for Firefox, but boy let me tell you it never ceases to impress me.
What it allows you to do is right-click on an image and literally search the internet for places where that image appears, be in in a different size,
resolution, black and white, or even significantly altered.
It is amazing. For example, you found a meme, but you believe you could make a funnier caption? TinEye will find you the oroginal, unaltered image and
you can then edit to your hearts content.
But what I've discovered is it is even better for playing internet detective and truth seeker. I just finished reading a thread here that was
discussing the atrocities committed by ISIS. The OP's linked article claimed that an image of a woman having her throat slit was recent and attributed
it to ISIS.
TinEye allowed me to discover that the original image popped up on the internet in 2008MAR03 on a Bahrainian news site. This essentially places the
entire article in to question; if you lie about one point, how many others did you lie about?
www.tineye.com...
Seriously go try it, it impresses me every time I use it.
