Sad video. The South, I can hear it in the accents.

I could Never, Ever treat my child like this. He's my whole world, and deserves my love whether he be straight, gay.

Good God, Christians in the South care too damn much what others think of them, I couldn't give a damn what people think of me. What if their son leaves as told and dies in a car accident, what will they feel then? Will this petty crap have mattered. Ego, all is EGO.

Playing Simon says is getting old.

I'm a Christian from the south...

I know that you probably didn't mean all, and I find it sad that I feel the need to clarify that even when I know that you know that it's not all of us. The sad truth is the stereotype exists and it didn't happen because it's not a prevalent behavior. It happened because it is sadly true in far too many cases.

I hate that those people leave me lumped into their ignorance. All I can do is try to be a different example and hope that one day it isn't a fairly factual stereotype.

I can not imagine throwing my son or any of my daughters out of my home or disowning them because of them being gay.

I can not relate fully to homosexuality, because I am a heterosexual. But I would be damned if I would disown any of my children because of that.

what does that mean?

you would disown them or you wouldnt.

big deal if they are do you wish them to be happy or not?

I most definitely would NOT throw my children out or disown them for being gay.
I thought my stance was clear when I said this,

I can not relate fully to homosexuality, because I am a heterosexual. But I would be damned if I would disown any of my children because of that.

But apparently I wasn't clear enough.
I hope it is clear now.

good for you. you have a good attitude and i applaud that.

My father is an old school guy and i wouldnt dare even bring this up, we have a good relationship and i wont risk ruining it by saying anything.

He hates gays, and me saying ive had boyfriends would utterly disrupt an otherwise clam, cool freindship

as they say "let sleeping dogs lie"

I'm between Louisiana and Alabama! I didn't clarify.
I understand it because I am from the Deep South.

I know it all too well.

No, I don't mean all. I'm Christian too, but don't, won't act this way.

Virginia here... You do sometimes feel like you are more alone in your views on this than not when living in particular areas, but we both know that right is right regardless of other's opinions.

why does everyone get mad over the gay thing, are you being hit on? does your kids get abused by gays? no? is it any of your business? no. so what the hell does it matter?

gay people hang with other gay people, they dont go round raping straight people or anything.

its a bit weird people still have a problem with gays.

whats the issue? its not your life.

but the hell out.

The issue is, fundamentalist xtianity still has way too much influence in our society, and has been the tool of choice for social conditioning. I'm not much for groupthink. I don't accept LGBT because it's the new social norm. I accept it because it's the right thing to do, and it's not my place to determine whether someones sexual preference is ethical or moral, as long as they aren't harming others.

Good post.
The only thing that I would add would be that Islam can be included along with the Fundamentalist Christianity. They have the same view of LGBT.

I am deeply disturbed by any parent so blinded by righteousness.
This is not what the person I follow taught us. And it only does
so much harm to the four corners. It just makes me irate at
all the damage that's done.
