Just hypothetically, if the aliens aren't evil and they have an agreement with the US government in exchange for technology they get to mutilate cows and abduct people, then what is the reason for the cover up(s)? Any theories?

It would change religion for most people FOR EVER. It would make us rethink some science, and social views. It would "crush our minds" to know the full truth. I'd be OK, but some close minded people would freak out and cause total chaos...
