United States are increasing in Iraq the number of military forces by 12.000 to secure national elections. Since invasion in 2003 this will be the highest amount of U.S troops. It means that a lot of units, which supposed to finish their duty in December won't get home at least not before January - scheduled time for the elections.

The United States is expanding its military force in Iraq (news - web sites) by 12,000 troops, to the highest level since the war began in March 2003, in order to bolster security in advance of national elections, officials said Wednesday. The expansion will be achieved by sending about 1,500 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, N.C., this month and by extending the combat tours of about 10,400 troops already in Iraq.

Apparently Pentagon is afraid that the last month before the elections might be significant for an Iraqi opposition. I guess that if U.S intelligence is already informed about future problems with security we cannot expect any improvement in stabilizing the situation in Iraq in the near future. It means America will need more and more soldiers ready to fight in Iraq. Is draft coming?
