Hello Dear Members,

I do not post often, but I recently saw a few posts about animals using humans for shelter (there was a sea lioness and a dolphin), and wished to share our experience.

I hope a Google Drive Public Presentation will work.

Heron vs Eagle

This set of pictures was shot by us. It shows a heron trying to escape from an eagle...

Cheers

In my area the precipitous decline in great blue heron population is being blamed in large part on predation by eagles.

Thanks for sharing this fantastic example!

That was a GREAT break down of the events. S&F for that alone.

I liked the story too.

Cool. Thanks. I was, worried for a bit. Now I wonder if the eagle just waited til you left. Did the heron become a late dinner or live to tell the tale to his little heron grandchildren?

We have a decent bald eagle population here in Tidewater Virginia and many different types of sea birds including great gray herons. I wonder what the effects on the water fowl community by the eagles is?a reply to: CraftBuilder

I live inland and am not very familiar with coastal ornithological phenology.
