in the United States of America we are not a democracy, we are a Republic. A republic is a form of government in which power resides in the people.
A democracy is where Majority rules; as where a republic is where there are set laws that protect the individual from the majority: in essence a republic protects the minority.

"and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God... etc."

The key difference between a democracy and a republic lies in the limits placed on government by the law, which has implications on minority rights. Both forms of government use a representational system where citizens vote to elect politicians to represent their interests and form the government. However, in a republic, a constitution or charter of rights protects certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even if it has been elected by a majority of voters. In a pure democracy, the majority is not restrained and can impose its will on the minority.

Our Founders very much feared creating a government that had too many aspects of a pure democracy. They feared the destructiveness that a majority might have in trying to make everyone equal, and in the process taking away property, rights of property, and with it our basic freedoms which they considered "God given Freedoms." They very much feared the development of the Robin Hood mentality we are seeing today – soak the rich and give to the poor. It is a democratic drift toward socialism. Such a program as the proposed "Universal Healthcare" is a prime example.

The Minorities of The united states believe that the democratic party is where they belong. thats because they get social programs and goverment handouts, redistributions of wealth. The democrats give up their rights willingly instead of voting republican where they believe in smaller government, and lower taxes, instead they are voting for unconstitutional things that are ruining this country.

In reality the minorities are protected better in a republic; As in there is a constitution that protect inalienable rights; or god given rights.

The founding Fathers feared a democracy ; knowing full well that democracy leads to oligarchy, which leads to communism.

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.
John Adams

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!
Benjamin Franklin

The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government — lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.
Patrick Henry

Would you rather be a wolf in sheeps clothing, or a well-armed lamb?

So minorities are better off with a party that seeks to offer subsidies to Fortune 500 companies and trample on Medicaid, Socila Security, and government assistance to the poor all while giving the 1% a tax break and shouldering the burden on the poor but cutting their services?

ok

Actually now that corporations are persons and money is free speech, the US has slipped into an oligarchy.
The people who voted in favor of these two abominations should be strung up from the highest trees and left as an example to those who would attempt to usurp.
Corporations are NOT people, and cash is NOT free speech.
