Dozens of Alabama widows married to former county employees lost their health insurance, thanks to new rules under Obamacare.

As WHNT reports, one county commissioner now wants to give it back to them.

“Madison county commissioner Roger Jones says no one realized just how much the new federal health care law would change things, especially for the spouses of some of his former employees,” the news report explains.

As WHNT reports, one county commissioner now wants to give it back to them.

“Madison county commissioner Roger Jones says no one realized just how much the new federal health care law would change things, especially for the spouses of some of his former employees,” the news report explains.

“A lot of these people are on fixed incomes, low fixed incomes. Some of them are living on Social Security and very little else and health insurance is very important to them,” Jones told WHNT.

“The widows who were dropped in January had always been covered under the county’s old self-insured health care plan. But officials tell us the program had to be abandoned when they were informed that new regulations in Obamacare would amount to an extra $25 million dollars per year, money that chairman Dale Strong says the county simply didn’t have.”

Thanks a lot Obamacare....
It would cost them an extra $25 mil a year due to the new law *shakes head*

Now some one please remind me what is so great about Obamacare????

Millions have lost their original plans after being told over and over that they could keep them
Many people are paying 30% higher premiums....even tho it's called 'Affordable' *cough-cough*
Many can NOT keep their doctors under then new plan....despite being told otherwise
And now widows are being kicked off their old coverage due to extreme costs brought on by, you guessed it, Obamacare

Time to junk it and start over.....
It's costing good people more by losing their plans/doctors/and paying higher prices.
And the uninsured are still, uninsured
The young adults aren't interested in healthcare. They have other bills to worry about like college, car loans, rent, phone, etc.

What a bunch of horse dung!!

And yes, Obamcare is frustrating and embarrassing
Very disappointing and hurtful to millions

They may have lost their plan under the new law, but that's because their insurance company failed to comply with the law. So now they have the chance to go to the Market place and select plans similar to what they had. I'm pretty sure they'll have better coverage and depending on their status (aside from being widowed) they could qualify for tax credits which would reduce their monthly coverage....Although, with them being on "temporary" State Health Insurance?? that probably means the state has complied with those regulations. Certain people do pay much more than they previously had (mostly those that fall outside the low income brackets) but they do get better coverage.

If the county doesn't have the $25 million needed to restore the widows health insurance, how can the county give these benefits back? ObamaCare is decimating a lot of public health plans and family insurance all over the country. The people experiencing this don't march on Washington, but they will quietly enter the voting booth in November get rid of Senators who voted the Affordable Care Act into law. I work with the public every day trying to fix problems caused by ObamaCare. Help is on the way, come 1/1/2015 when the new Senate is sworn in.

Actually that right there is debatable

Not many plans to choose from --3--and many people complain that they pay more for the bottom plan with less coverage than they had to begin with

The point is, people are losing coverage due to new laws thanks to Obamacare
People that already had health insurance to begin with
And the ones that they're supposed to be targeting are NOT the ones signing up

Unfortunately that tired old argument is total Malarkey.

The previous policies were all legal eagles before the ACA passed.

The brand new minimum coverage requirements made the "old" policies illegal starting on specific dates depending on when they are expiring.

The insurance companies have always had legal policies because all the States have insurance commissions that make the State regulations.

This ACA has mandated all States to follow the new Federal regulations.

There are victims of the inefficiencies of the ACA.

And also, an excellent example of why we have checks and balances like Congress and Senate, along with a Judicial branch.

Its to debate, and secure the rights of the people, that laws are not passed that would harm the peoples interest and protect the mandates of the constitution.

What we got with the ACA was a complete failure of government, at every step of the process and at every level.

I imagine, if we survive this era, the ACA will be a showcase example of what Lobbying and Partisan Politics brings.

We got an Executive branch, that when faced with the Debate of congress, that had fallen to partisan and lobbying, to the point of NO compromise.

That than rams it through, followed by strong arming the Judaical branch to ensure the will of the Executive was done, and could not be counter acted by the bickering two party system.

No one wants to see it, but its a failure of EVERY aspect of our Representative government, On a level Akin the fall of the roman Republic to Emperor rule.

Because the Executive couldn't be bothered...

Its not the end, but a symptom of a sick system, the question is, when will we admit its ill.

That's an awful lot of hoops to jump through for something you guys say is a basic human right.

What's next? Free speech in triplicate?

What bothers me about all this, is they DID have insurance up until they passed the new health laws

Bottom line...it's a fubar mess that I highly doubt can be cleaned up anytime soon
And more people are suffering because of it than people being helped by it
