A manipulated memory

Wow , after watching this video i'm stunned.Video shows implanting false memories in the brains of mice and manipulating the real memories and experience of the mice.This technology will have so much implications on Human nature , Ethics, science, military and all humanity.
What if you delete a memory, but the person has other memories, say, regarding talking about that initial memory and how it affected parts of his or her life - what will happen? Unless you can truly locate and delete all memories regarding that memory, it seems like a pretty messy, terrifying - and potentially maddening - alteration. What if there were positive memories regarding talking about or learning about that initial memory, which led to a person growing (and making him or her stronger...perhaps working out issues consciously with a therapist) and developing in a positive way, perhaps helping others who have experienced similar things. And if you can't locate and delete all memories associated with that initial memory, will the person just become extremely confused, or even lose his or her mind, after ultimately losing parts of his- or herself - or that which he or she has defined as his- or herself?

I think that they are extrapolating something that is really not there. What they are truly describing is the Pavlov effect, reward good, bad pain. One cannot remotely approach calling it memory manipulation because no one can question the mice say after a fortnight to see if any memory has been altered except by the pain or reward mechanism. There is only one sure way to certify the effect and that is to use human beings in the experiment as they could clearly say whether the memories they had had been lost, added to or otherwise manipulated. Some memories are inherent, like the need to suckle in babies or the fight or flight mechanism. Nice to talk about it but extremely hard to prove.
