Not only is it incorrect, . .
It's actually not incorrect or a new fad.
From as early as the 14th century to the modern era, singular they/them pronouns have signified a gender-neutral identity that defies gender stereotyping.
The commonly used nonbinary pronoun, singular “they,” could likely be the English language’s oldest gender-neutral pronoun. With constant references throughout history, literature and spoken English, the use of they/them pronouns is far from new.
reporter.rit.edu...
Whoever wrote that is being willfully obtuse. Of course the word "They" has been used in the singular for eons.
Ex: "I was watching this person blow glass, and they made a really cool vase." etc. etc.,
but the use of "They" to mean trans or non-binary or whatever is entirely new. Them citing Canterbury tales as proof just shows how little grasp they (see totally organic) have of the language. Not one case in Canterbury tales is referring to nonbinary use.
You should not be so easily duped. It is incorrect.
Wow, yep, what a pile of wet steamy 💩. Anyone that believes that crap has serious mental issues of their own. All part of the brainwashing and dumbing down of society I suppose. I feel dumber for having read it.
Didn't you know that by the term they/them we mean trans or non-binary? What did you learn in school?

The whole LGBTQWERTY movement is a politically motivated load of crap. My son is trans; he and every one of his 'other than' friends absolutely loathe the entire agenda. They just want to live their lives peacefully, without a bunch of controversial attention that all too often ends in violence.
Take a look back on the last few presidencies. Promoting issues to get people focused on fighting each other has only benefitted the government and swamp critters that feed off of our division. You can see which administrations have gone out of their way to split the population into hate-filled groups, and actually create and fund many of them.
Keep in mind nothing political happens by accident; it was all planned well in advance. Woe be to any non-career politician that trys to break the cycle and free the people.
This movement exists solely because the Internet exists. Its Zeitgeist, has nothing or little to do with politics, its more a society thing i guess.
The internet just took it to another level. People were far more docile before the internet because very few realized they were being played. The internet created a wakening that required counter-measures by our overlords, who have always used division to continue their subversion and control.
And who are our overlords?

Those evil nasty right wingers, to think referring to a women as she/her....the gall. What's next referring to a man as him/he. Just unbelievable. What should we do?
The horror. Its just not right.
Sorry, I couldn't resist...nevermind....carry on.
I said in one of my posts this isn't a right or left wing issue but it has become one, intentionally.

Do you think it's citizens that control the government or the goverbnment controls citizens?
I see you're new here. I suggest catching up by reading threads on Soros, WEF, Klaus Schwab, Davos, etc.

Refusing to use someone's preferred pronouns is every bit as rude as refusing to use a person's given name.
Perhaps even more so, since, for most people, their name is "bestowed" upon them by others (parents/guardians/tribe), whereas one's gender identity, especially if that identity is not the one "assigned" at birth, is even more personal, as it is intrinsic to how that person experiences themselves.
I do not understand how being openly rude to each other is somehow to be conflated with "anti-woke"-ness, and therefore some great boon for common sense and community.
used to refer to a person of unspecified gender.
"ask someone if they could help"

I was wondering if you or someone could explain exactly what gender 'they/them' is. Because there is no dictionary in the world that that correlates the words they/them with any gender/species/galaxies etc. before the LBGTQ+++ gender pronoun identifiers became a thing.
Here's the Oxford definition,
used to refer to a person of unspecified gender.
"ask someone if they could help"
So again, what gender is they/them?
And why did the 'think of the most diverse non-applicable pronouns possible race' transition from gender to species, or any other object for that matter? What's up with that? If they want to have different pronouns, make up their own words. They can't just hijack the English language. It'd be heck to be an English teacher right about now.
People have too much time on their hands. And having the internet objectify every whim and fancy someone thinks up doesn't help. The pool is so muddled and full of filth, nothing specific is identifiable or observably important anymore.
All for less than 1% of the loudest, most rude and self absorbed - people? population? theys? thems or thoses? on the planet.

So if we have an agreed upon language and people are changing that its ok?
The English language has evolved over the Centuries and continues to evolve , the problem here isn't language changing but people having their paradigms challenged.
Words of the Prophet David Bowie.
"I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through"
Change will happen whether we like it or not.
