From drought to major flooding.... One for the record books!

Anyone up for some doom porn?

Here in the middle of Hellinois, we are facing floods of epic proportions. In my 36 years on this rock, I've seen the River grow to 27 feet. At 27 feet, it cripples this area bad. The worst it's ever been is 28.8 and that was waaaaay before my time. Well kids, the River is expected to rise past our worst flooding ever. Supposed to crest at 30 feet this coming Tuesday.

With the recent rainfall, we have been overwhelmed with water. The River is rising fast and it's creating havoc here! Not sure what's going to happen, but we have ENTIRE cities under water. Places that have never flooded are under water. Thousands of people are now homeless and without transportation.

I know the damage of a 27 foot River and it's not pretty. Well, we are going to surpass that. This is not good and will cost Billions in damages. Keep us fools in your thoughts and prayers, we need it!

Tug boats can't keep up with the current and are crashing into each other. Folks can't move their belongings fast enough to escape this mess. And to top it all off, we have rain forecasted through all of next week. Not only that, but the temps have dropped big time. It's hard to move your stuff when it's 40 degrees with a rain/sleet/snow mixture AND it's flooded!

So, for ignorant Southern hillbillies, such as myself, I would like to state that you are referring to Kickapoo Creek in Illinois as a conduit to the Illinois River. Not the Kickapoo Creek in Texas as a conduit to the Sulphur River or the Kickapoo Creek in Texas as a conduit to the Concho River or the Kickapoo Creek marina in Texas on Lake Livingston.

When I bought my house, I made damn sure I was never under a threat of flooding.... Well, I'll be fishing out of my back yard in a day or so.... Mmmmm Catfish.

This is being mentioned on FOX...last year ( or the year before) Memphis had this kind of flooding...It was EPIC!!

I wonder what all areas will be affected this time....

The River didn't quite get to the 30 foot mark, but it hit 29.5 and that my friends is a new record.

The damages are severe and it will be months before this mess is cleaned up.

If anyone wants to come over to my place I could use some help cleaning my basement.

Basement cleaning party is off. It's raining again with two more inches in the forecast.

Screw it, I'm gonna stock my basement with Crappies and Bluegill. I'll enjoy a few adult beverages while fishing from the comforts of home!

I should probably start a new thread, but I'm bumping an old one.

We've only had a handful of days without rain. The River is at 27.8 feet with more rain forcasted for the next two weeks.

Two years ago was the "500 year flood", but I'm pretty damn sure we're going to meet or excede that. Again.

I know other States are getting hammered too, so we aren't alone. But damn, who will stop the rain?
