I agree this song has always gotten my attention, and leads me to believe that some of the plot of life is being told to us through media....

Tool opened my mind to different perspectives in a positive way, think about this: Ænima is a combination of the words anima and enema; anima means soul or life force, while enema is the method of cleaning your anus (lol) but combining the meaning of the words creates a dual meaning. Cleansing of the soul

Another song when first heard grabbed me - its about something but least about "Pot" - its so layered...

Maynard was very spiritual. He knew what's going on. And what's to come

In my opinion Tool are one of the most relevant and interesting bands of the last two decades.

I had the pleasure of seeing them at the Washington state Kitsap Co fairgrounds in the mid nineties with Soundgarden.

Maynard Keenan did not disappoint and the band were even joined for an encore performance of the song Opiate by now deceased Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley.

Hard to believe that was nearly twenty years in the past

It's not that easy. I'm not saying to not do it, but just that there are many layers to MJK.

Yup...he knew - it was a portend. I know you know this but if you listen to a Jar of Flies - your like where did that song come from & it's awesome and doesn't fit but he knew the deal.

Love those tunes, especially The Pot, probably my favourite.

I like how aenima goes nicely in time with the OP's avatar too.
