It's not that American workers refuse to do those jobs, that's just what you would like for people to believe. The fact of the matter is that American workers refuse to do those jobs for slave wages. Most American workers don't live in 5 family communal houses and they cannot even begin to pay their bills on the wages offered. Even our current federal minimum wage is not a living wage and most of the jobs that you claim American workers refuse to do pay less than that.

Sounds likes you really bought into that line of B.S. that John McCain was selling last election cycle.

I don't know about that. I think a lot of people are broke because they were careless, they bought a brand new car, and now its taking up 40% of there monthly income, then they bought a house that was way bigger and more expensive then they really needed, which takes up another 50%, food and the others 10%, SO there broke right??? No you need to sell the car, move out, make sure you get an education, and if you didn't when you were younger then you weren't thinking, and try to get a job. We as HUMAN BEINGS can't expect to have anybody take care of ourselves but ourselves, this is the way life has worked for millions of years. And thats just the way its going to be, until we can all figure it out. Problem is people don't want to move, they don't want to sell their car, and they wan't to work, and have all the goodies. You have to earn the goodies, some people are satisfied with not a lot of money, so they take those jobs, the people who aren't learn and move on. We can't take this collective of all our money, the tax money, and spend it all on people who didn't care to think about the future. I get there are people who are really in need, there are terrible tragedies and accidents, but the fact is, for most people they're not in that situation( in the U.S.). In fact if you live in the U.S. your blessed, you have one of the best lives in the world, no matter what situation you're in. There are others out there, where today they spent the whole day trying to not get their head cut off.

WRONG. American workers refuse to take jobs that have been deemed "undesireable." Many illegal or even legal migrant workers eat up jobs that American workers outright refuse to do and are paid fair wages.

The fact of the matter is that American workers refuse to do those jobs for slave wages. Most American workers don't live in 5 family communal houses and they cannot even begin to pay their bills on the wages offered.

You seem to be confused with this statement. First you say that most American workers DO NOT live in 5 family, communal, houses and then you go on to say that they CAN NOT even begin to pay their bills on the wages.

This comment would make sense if you said that some American workers DO live in 5 family, communal, houses but CAN NOT even begin to pay for their bills on the wages.

But that is not what you said.

And that is the root of the problem. If illegal workers can survive in this country on wages like this, then why is it said that American workers can not survive? The answer is illegal workers do not feel they are entitled to many amenities that Americans do. This means illegal workers make sacrifices that are totally reasonable to get by and American workers feel they should not have to make those sacrifices.

I am not talking about food or shelter, I am talking about the latest cell phone, cars, computers with internet access, cable television and many, many other things that Americans have come to the belief that they are ENTITLED and have an undeniable right to because John down the street has them.

Even our current federal minimum wage is not a living wage and most of the jobs that you claim American workers refuse to do pay less than that.

That is debateable.

If you know of a business that pays less than the federal or state minimum wage, which ever is higher, make a complaint to the Department of Labor because that company is breaking the law.

Jobs in which employees are compensated through tips and gratuity, for example a waitor or waitress, are exempt because the employee is compensated.

Sounds likes you really bought into that line of B.S. that John McCain was selling last election cycle.

John McCain seemed to touch on the subject but it is unknown what context that small clip was taken from.

If your goal is to reduce the American standard of living to that of Mexico or China, then you're absolutely correct. Why can't Americans do the same thing that illegals do in this country, like housing 5 families in one house? Hell, why don't we just do like the Chinese and build dormitories to house them right on the job site? You know, kinda like the plantation owners did during the days of full blown slavery. I'm sure that those slave owners felt like the wages & benefits, or should I say lack thereof, that they paid to their labor was "fair" too.

Because that's not American, that's why! If you really like those societies and their standards that much then why don't you just move there and enjoy them to the fullest? Here in America, workers have fought tooth and nail for over a hundred years to ensure safe working standards, environmental protection standards and a living wage. Now, you Tea Party neo-cons "want to take this country back" and reinstitute a standard of living not seen in this country since the days of "States Rights" and full blown slavery.

What's should we expect next, legislation deeming workers be equal to 3/5 of an employer?

How did we go from a discussion about people who REFUSE to work to this ridiculousness about lowering the American standard of living to something like Mexico or China.

No one is arguing for that and I dont know where you came from with this.

I simply stated that all must live within their means and not simply feel that they are ENTITLED to any standard of living without working for it. I simply stated that some must make REASONABLE sacrifices in order to remain economically independant. You are the one that made the leap of logic from that to lowering the American standard of living.

And your comparison to slavery is completely baseless. The fact that you attempt to draw a parallel between the two is shameful.

Because that's not American, that's why!

What is not American? People living within their means? You and your type are exactly why we are in the situation we are in. You think that it is American to be ENTITLED to a standard of living that you see someone else living without actually taking into consideration the WORK it took for that other person to get where they are.

It is American to have the freedom and opportunity to live the life you want as long as you are willing to work for it.

It is not American to be given the freedom and opportunity but refuse to work and expect others to PROVIDE you with the life that you want just because they have it.

Its about equal oppurtunity, not equal outcome. Im not saying we have equal economic oppurtunity, but we should, and we should do whatever we can to constantly reassert that notion and make sure it holds true. The governments job is to ensure that there is equal oppurtunity not to give handouts so everyone has a equal outcome. We have to be accountable for our actions, if we choose to not think ahead, to be lazy, then we should pay for it, but it seems we've lost this mentality and switched to no matter what you do your entitled to a nice job, a nice house, a nice car.

Its like this, lets say your back in school, and you take a test. Everyone gets the grade they earned, so there are a bunch of people with F's, less with D's, less with C's, less with B's, and even less with A's. But lets say on the next test, the teacher says, instead of earning your own grade I will take the average and everybody gets the same grade. They take a test, with pretty much the same distribution of grades, and the average comes out to a C- . The people who put in all the effort to get an A or B, now gets a C-. When the next test comes around, they see no point in putting in effort, so the average drops down to F for everyone. So reevaluate what you want, do you want equal oppurtunity, or equal outcome. Yes some people get F's, with equal oppurtunity though if they tried they could have gotten an A, so it doesn't make sense to provide them with special treatment. All this says, is that you don't have to work hard, you don't really have to work for anything, and this is not the way life works. We will reach a point, where people expecting to get their pensions, their social security, other entitlements, won't get them, because there will be no more money. The people control the nation, at anytime we as a nation could break away from the federal government and just disregard any taxes we'd have to pay them. So do whatever you want, but don't expect anyone to save you 20 years from now when you start dying and you don't have any money because you were told the government would.
