Experimental AIDS vaccine 'works in monkeys'

An experimental vaccine has helped monkeys with a form of the AIDS virus control the infection for more than a year, suggesting it may lead to a vaccine for people, US researchers have said.

The vaccine works by priming the immune system to quickly attack the HIV virus when it first enters the body, a point at which the virus is most vulnerable, US researchers said in a study published in the journal Nature on wednesday.

Doctor Louis Picker of the Oregon National Primate Research Center said he thinks it will be possible to have a vaccine ready to test in people within three years.

"We feel it has a possibility of keeping the virus under complete control or clearing the virus," Picker said.

This great news but I have a feeling this vaccine will never make it to us without costing an arm and a leg. Our "Big Pharma" is digusting and morally corrupt in many different ways. They would rather control all aspects of medication and make a fortune then help humanity. Plus, those who believe in population control after researching the United Nations "Agenda 21" have solid grounding that AIDS is permitted to spread to control the rapidly growing birth rate.

I really dislike the Oregon National Primate Research Center. To many experiments done that just don't need to be(see Obesity study on chimps< --obvious data, is obvious guys!)
Other than that statement, with the news of an airborn AIDS said to be spreading in China, if it hits the US, the vaccine may be one that is to be given to everybody.
If it can help people that are in close contact with AIDS patients, live in a country where it is widespread, etc., fine.

I can only hope you're right that our government will "help people in close contact" but history will most likely predict their actions on this matter. This "vaccine" will probably be suppressed and sold at the highest bidder instead of helping humanity.

Well of course an AIDS vaccine works in monkeys. Monkeys don't get AIDS. Are you sure you didn't mean HIV vaccine? HIV the virus and AIDS the disease are two different things.

Sky news reported last night that an HIV vaccine was being tested not AIDS.

They aslo claimed thorugh the Terence Higgins Trust, that the vaccine cleared the monkeys of all of the virus.

We live in interesting times, but will it be 'affordable' and who will be making the most money from an engineered virus?
