According to CNN these are the 10 things that could affect us if this government shutdown happens.

news.blogs.cnn.com...

The list of collateral effects of a potential government shutdown keeps growing and people are none too pleased about it. Here are just a few of the negative impacts that could arise if Congress and the White House fail to reach an agreement on the budget (click here to view in chart form):

The lawmakers who hold the cards will still get paid. Their staffers might be furloughed, though. That has prompted a few lawmakers to announce they'll refuse shutdown pay,but even that has elicited critiques of political posturing.

Now, I think we would get better results by reversing their little system. Leave the parks open, pay the military, and Congress doesn't get paid until work together and figure out a budget.

Yes, I think we would get better and faster results from my plan.

I totally agree, I do not see any point in shutting down parks and museums, things that actually help people better understand ourselves, jus't to keep the pockets of the wealthy stuffed. What a world it is we live in. I must admit, I am excited to see what happens due to the shutdown that they DIDN't put on that list.

Members of Congress still get paid but,

Military pay is cut. And just seen on CNN...No Death Benefits.

Toxic Waste Clean up is stopped and the EPA is shut down. No Air monitoring either.

With Japan still exporting radiation...really?

Folks, you can't make this crap up!

Yes yes, it's as if they want us all to learn our lesson for opposing TPTB, we all need to show them EXACTLY what we learned.

How exactly do you close a national park?

I guess they could lock the public restrooms.

My day will be ruined when the government resumes from a shutdown with its inept, corrupt ways re-energized by a crying populace who may not get the handout they've come to depend upon.

I think the members of congress should switch places with the military then?
