How Convienient, Law Makers Still Get Paychecks if There's a Government Shutdown.

Guess who still gets paid if the government shuts down? Surprise, surprise: members of Congress. A shutdown would halt pay for thousands of government workers, including congressional staff.

How can anyone expect our government officials to work for us when they don't feel our pain! They receive more than 4 times the average citizens wage ($174,00 not including perks). They don't pay into social security, they have ridiculous pensions and have the best health care benefits packages (which they don't contribute). They're the first to cut back on programs that affect millions of hard working Americans, yet ignore cutting back anything that would diminish their comfortable standard of living. They bail out banks and corporations yet allow them to foreclose on homes of hardworking and tax paying Americans. They completely ignore a runaway military budget that is 6 times more than the second highest military budget (China). They continue to expand government departments that are costing taxpayers billions of dollars. They continue to send billions of foreign aid to countries that don't need it. So why do Americans think these elected officials have their best interests in mind?

Do you really think these people care about you? All they care about is keeping their job that lines their pocket with money stained in blood and tears. How could they?

Well of course they'll still get their paychecks. Priorities, you know If they do a crap job, they don't suffer. Where's the motivation here? There is none. This speaks volumes about the general state of our broken government.

They dont do anything anyway and still get paid so how is this any different

Let's face it, there's billions, if not trillions, of your hard earned 'taxdollars' at work here.
Being put in places where you don't want it, being used to pay off banks and companies that made terrible business decisions with your money in the first place.
The same banks and companies that used your consumer spent money to equally waste it?
Or re-invest it into more money for themselves?

End result...
Your money, from both sides, is wasted.

Well, of course. They're doing their job of standing up for middle and working class citizens, which is what they were elected to do.

If you're referring to public sectors employees who are demonstrating, I am pretty sure that the demonstrators are probably using their sick leave.

To get fired for standing up to preserve your job would be unjust and unfair.

To read your post, one would conclude that you are a multi-millionaire corporate type who thinks your employees are nothing but interchangeable slaves who can be fired for any excuse or whim you might have.

Or else you're a tyrant who thinks only Republicans should be in positions of power.

Wow, you got all that from two lines of text? Two lines that say nothing about demonstrators, or getting fired, or corporatism, or really anything that you mentioned? Actually, I don't think any rationally-thinking (read: not leftist) person would be able to get all of that from what I said! Oh, and do you have any propagan...oops...I mean source that says they didn't get paid? Because, I assure you, since they don't get an hourly wage, they were paid even though they walked out on their jobs. Try a no-call/no-show in a private company and you'll get your butt (rightfully) canned.
