Snowquake?

On the topic of weird science, I kinda noticed this small little 3.5 tremor in the United Kingdom last night...

Now between the elasticity of the lithosphere (and the asthenosphere?) and all that snow pressing down on this part of the world. Could it be possible that we are witnessing a "snowquake"??

(told you it would be weird!!)

how much snow are you guys getting over there? some where here in the US we got 13 feet of it. if quakes by snow is posible im sure they would def have one. idk.

It's more likely it was just a normal earthquake. I don't think the pressure would be a big deal or you would see that all over the world when it snows or at least every time it has snowed heavily in that area they would have in the past.

I have read about the use of earthquakes as a weapon that could be triggered by adding massive amounts of water to underground rivers though.

I guess your right.....

Just my early morning, pre-coffee brainfarts.........I was thinking glacial rebound.....ice.....snow.....lightbulb!! Until you realize that the glaciers that cause these rebounds were several miles thick and the process took some time. You would have to conclude that it is indeed a weird idea......Maybe I should refrain from posting before consuming coffee.
