As the last brigade of U.S. combat troops began to leave Iraq Thursday the Obama administration planned to double the number of private security guards it has in the country to fill the void.

President Barack Obama had imposed an end-of-the-month deadline for the pullout -- and "The Last Patrol," which included members of the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, crossed the border into Kuwait in the early hours of Thursday local time.

Are we sure this is over? Sounds to me like a private takeover of the operations in Iraq! Are the troops moving to Iran? I know this link is Foxnews, so I apologize. But this concerns me. Are we privatizing our military actions to pull the wool over the American's eye's?

Is this a political move to allow Obama supporters to rest easy?

I've questionede this in the past...

Its not the number of US military personel that should be looked at..

Its the number of "people" the US is paying through private contractors...

Its all done with mirrors and BTW, these private contractors usually cost more..

Not only do contractors cost more, the civilian deaths by the hand of contractors are also not counted

Obama in fact just made the Iraq War much worse!

Interesting. With private contractors there would be no rules of engagment. Would they even be bound to the Geneva conv.? I doubt it. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

Also, someone please straighten me out here...

A month or so ago there were 60K-65K troops in Iraq.

Sixteen days ago, the report was that 50,000 of 65,000 US troops currently in Iraq are set to remain until the end of 2011 to advise Iraqi forces and protect US interests.

I thought only combat troops left and that we were leaving 50K there, along with the PMCs?

shuffle the deck and deal another war..on to iran.
these war profiteers wanna keep a good thing going.

Some of the biggest issues is accountability, oversight and most importantly asks the question whether or not a PMC can truly help usher in peace, when they profit from war.

I have a feeling the bill that was passed to put Civilians under the work of the Government will also be used in the mix of leaving "Private Security."
