UK Government Returns to Draconian Anti-File Sharing Measures

We're dismayed by the U-turn on illegal filesharing announced today by Lord Mandelson. Barely two months after the publication of largely sensible and pragmatic measures to tackle the problem (in the Digital Britain Report) Lord Mandelson has, it seems, caved in under pressure from powerful lobbyists in the content industry.

Introducing measures such as disconnection at the instigation of the Secretary of State will sidestep proper scrutiny, likely breach fundamental human rights and result in innocent people being disconnected or, worse, prosecuted.

The regressive measures were agreed upon by Lord Mandlelson when he attended a private dinner with major record producer David Geffen and members of the Rothschild banking dynasty at the family's holiday villa on Corfu.

The Internet as we know it is in a lot of danger. The New World Order definitely has it as its next big target in order to lay the groundwork for future censorships and increased control over what people are allowed to say or do. Controlling the Internet is essential if you want to quickly silence people with dangerous opinions since its the only remaining anonymous mass media on the planet. And file sharing is the perfect excuse to put these plans in action.

Question is, can we do anything at all?

Personally I think we are witnessing the end times of a free Internet and that there is in fact nothing anyone can do.

Is it beyond the realms of feasibility for the people to create their own internet? If not internet (as we know it) a countrywide of even continental wifi network?

Thats off the top of my head, so probably unworkable..is it?

isnt the internet just a big network of computers. so wat im saying is that they probably alrdy have a pretty good handle on things already. isnt subversion software made to log file and store everything done on computers. id imagine that google uses the software to track terrorists.

No it would work if you had money to dig the cables and buy the switches etc. There is nothing special about the Internet. Its just a large network.

But you would have to create all the internet sites from scratch as well. There would be no content. Connecting your internet with the other internet means your internet will be under control as well, and they could simply shut down the gateways between your internet and the public internet.

Its just not a rational thing to do, even though its possible from a technical point of view.

Perhaps in the future if we have long range very fast wireless networks so we dont have to dig cables.

This would be against Human rights and would just further the mount of data that could be downloaded.

It could curb free downloads completely. Taxes could be placed on everything. Total control is not too far away if they get away with this.

When you consider it, it is not entirely the fault of the person who downloads stuff, but also the ISP's who allow the methods to be there in the first place.
The internet was designed to share information.. and that is exactly what it is doing.

Cutting people off from the internet, for whatever reason, is not an answer and is just more of an example of the control TPTB wish to have over.

Of the estimated six million file-sharers in the UK, how many of those would stand up and speak out if the ISP's just blocked web sites where file sharers find their files..

The vast majority of censorship is done in the home through firewalls and anti virus programmes and other methods. It would not be too difficult for search engines, like Google, to block the URL's and IP's of any file sharing web sites. Even ISP's could do the same.

But they wont as it will damage their busniess and advertising revenue. It is far easier and less hassle for the govenrment and the law to enforce its rules and regs on the individuyal rather than large companies. Large companies have the financial ability to fight back..

Mr Foster acknowledged that online piracy was "a major problem in the UK" but said overriding the opinion of Lord Carter and two Secretary of States was "bizarre".

If they think this is bad then they should take a look at the Philippines. Pirated games, DVD's and music CD's are sold openly on the streets and even in big major shopping malls. Some of the DVD's are professionaly produced with 6 or more films on each disk and selling for very little money.

Why is it that the UK is being slammed hard in regards to piracy, but in some certain countries it is almost common practice by everyone? You can even get your Play Station or X-Box chipped in a shop in a mall !!

It is estimated that half of all the traffic on the net in the UK is content that is shared illegally.

If that is true then they have a real problem. Stopping half the UK's net access will be a major blow to many, many people and big business..

"Rothschild banking dynasty..." = About money. Plain and simple.

It's always been about rich people wanting to be more rich. It's never enough.

1. They can't have people giving things away for free. -- As long as people are giving things away for no money, they must combat it, as it deems their tactics to make money moot.

2. They don't want the entertainment industry to die. -- It serves too many purposes. Distraction, Laughable Education, Mind Control and Subconscious Mood Alteration as well as subliminally introduced demographic targeting (Advertising).

3. They can't have people moving away from television, magazines and mainstream news media (society's steering wheel). -- Which they do if they have unfettered control over what they watch and listen to for free.

4. Taxes

They will address these 4 attributes of free file sharing as quickly as they can muster in an effort to stop the sheer explosion and ever-widening community of free-thinking, and more the point, thinking, individuals.
