Verdick and Flood were not friends or family. In fact, they were total strangers from the East and West coasts. But that's not the most unusual aspect of this case.

The patient and donor were brought together after Flood's three daughters placed an ad on Craigslist, the online classifieds site that offers everything from autos to real estate and guitar lessons to massage.

While I am glad this man is ok and got what he needed to survive, I have to wonder about the ethics of advertising for organs on the internet.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if it could be part of an underground organ trading thing. If this person's organs are just being whored out essentially. Kind of a scary thought.

Some people responded to the ad trying to sell their kidneys to this family. Others simply offered.

Like I said, I am glad this man is ok and got the organ he needed to live.

But, should websites like Craigslist be in the business of facilitating organ donations right along side the ads for used cars??
