Top McCain Adviser, Phil Gramm, Leaves Campaign

wcbstv.com

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Phil Gramm, a top adviser to presidential candidate John McCain, is resigning from the role as campaign co-chairman after his comments that the United States had become a "nation of whiners" who constantly complain about the state of the economy.

The former U.S. senator from Texas and past presidential candidate made the remarks earlier this month. McCain immediately distanced himself from the comments, but they have been criticized constantly as McCain tries to show he can help steer the country past its current financial troubles.

Gramm had also suggested that the country was facing a "mental recession" instead of real economic problems. Gramm said in a statement late Friday that he is stepping down as a co-chair of the campaign to "end this distraction."

Gramm has become an albatross around McCain's neck. I am glad to see him leave.

Well, the problem wasn't Mr. Gramm's mouth, the problem was his actions over the last 30years. Too bad we can't go back in time and make him resign in the past.

I'm sick of McCain not having the gonads to support his supporters. He would rather throw them under the bus than to take any heat whatsoever.

What is wrong with calling America "A nation of whiners?" Just looking at the reactions to that statement shows it has some merit to it.

If McCain keeps throwing his supporters under the bus, who is going to be left to vote for him?

The sad part is though that McCain believes, or believed in Gramm's view on economic ideals to begin with!

Gramm is the one man to blame the most for the Mortgage/Housing Crisis and the Enron Loophole.

The man is a looney when it comes to economics and does just the opposite of what should be done!

And just because he's stepping out of the picture for now, doesn't mean that McCain wouldn't still put him in charge of the US Treasury if he wins the election.

These two guys are just alike in that they both let their mouths outrun their brains!

I think McCain has also become an albatross around his own neck.
