I've given thought to how I could make money if I ever had to bug out and head for the hills. One obvious answer is to steal if you are inclined to
do so. Not everybody wants to be a thief but if it means eating or starving you do what you have to. This carries risks and if your plan is to avoid
civilization then there is not much to steal out in the woods.
So how about gold prospecting? With gold at around $900 an ounce it could be a way for you to make money while staying away from people, at least
until you have to sell or trade it.
If you are traveling to a different location then you could pan-as-you-go and follow streams and rivers. Most people don't realize that gold
prospecting is alive and well in the 21st century. They think of it as "something that happened in the 1800s" and that there is no more gold to
find.
Gold can be found almost everywhere in the US, even here in New England. Use google to look up places in your state where gold has been found before
and give it a try.
