Mike Huckabee: Torturer/Killer of Dogs!

Years ago, a dog was tortured and killed by Huckabee.
No, not Mike, but his 17 year old son.

This makes Mike responsible. His son was a minor.
The torturing, and killing occurred under the name Huckabee.
There is no excuse for this.. After all, this was no employee of Mikes, this was his OWN CHILD!


I feel that, because Mike has not spoken in depth about this issue, or distanced himself from his son, that he is as guilty as his Son.

It also appears that Mike may have tried to cover this up, or sweep it under the rug.

Where is the outrage?

I could never vote for a guy, that has this skeleton in his closet.
He needs to come forward, bring up this thing from his past, and address it accordingly..

Mike Huckabee is responsible for the actions of someone else, that did something horrible many years ago..

I absolutely agree. This is a disturbing story, assuming that all the facts are right. It makes me wonder what kind of father he was.

BINGO! I think this was also a shot at me for my RP thread about the newsletter. But knowing this, not only am I outraged, but he will not get my vote, my wife's vote or my golden retrievers vote. I could say depending on the state, 17 may be considered a legal adult...BUT...his father obviously missed teaching his son a lesson about respect for all living creatures somewhere along the way. May I ask for a link to the info online please.

I was having a little fun with sensationalist headlines.

I was hoping for a Huckabee supporter, or two or three would at least come in to defend the man. There may have been some parenting issues, but Mike was not guilty of killing the dog.
Also, As you said, the kid was pretty much an adult. Two weeks shy of 18.

Even though this is a true story, and all the participants are known.
Not much of it has been brought up in mainstream.
Maybe they'll ask him about it at the next debate..!!

I agree with hardrive, I think this thread is a goof on the recent flap about Ron Paul's newsletters. Still, if his son did kill the dog it's disgusting. You don't say whether Huckabee disciplined his son afterward, or if his son stopped abusing animals as a result. That would make a difference. Ron Paul would have done well to correct the offending staff members too.

Looking into the issue, this son seems to be the Billy Carter of the group. I say that because he brought a loaded Glock (gun for the firearm impaired) to an airport and got nailed at security.
SD - yes sensationalism is at its worst around elections and he was an adult. It's upsetting though that this allegedly happened because it feels like Mike wasn't around much for his kid (look at what has happened to the kids of Andy Reid - football coach of the Philly Eagles). Absentee parenting in the late teenage years leads to these horrible choices.

well I don't mean to sound disrespectful about this topic, but
I'm gonna have to weigh in on the matter.

I have killed 5 dogs in my lifetime. 3 were quite by accident
as it was unavoidable driving speed limits and them suckers
just dart right out in front of ya.

However 2 of them were intentional on my part and I'll explain
the circumstances.

My father owned cattle and these cattle supplied our family with beef
during the year so we could eat.

Now, I awoke one morning as my father came into the house
and asked me if I would help him bury a cow that had drowned
in their watering hole. I spent 2.5 hrs digging that hole for that
cow. Afterward I did a redneck investigation and found out why
the smaller cow had drowned when the larger ones did not.

I found paw tracks all around the watering hole of some small
animals which were not supposed to be in our cow pasture.
I informed my dad of what I found and he thought it was
foxes or coyotes from the swamp about a mile away looking for
fresh meat. I accepted that reasoning from my dad and set up
shop for a hidden trap the next night. I had a high-powered rifle
and sat in a blind awaiting whatever it was that had killed our cow.

About 1:30 a.m. I noticed the cows started running toward the
watering hole and jumped in as they were being chased by these 2
pawed creatures. The cattle had jumped and stood in the water
knowing the creatures would not enter the water to get them. Now
I knew WHY the smallest one drowned as he was running for his life
and the water was too deep for him.

It was very dark and could not make out what the 2 creatures were.
But whatever they were, they were the ones responsible for the
attack and death of our cow the previous night. I took aim and took
one of them down in the right shoulder as he flipped a couple times
and layed still while gasping and whining. The other one saw what
happened to his buddy and made a b-line for the treeline.

I remembered my dad teaching me how to bird hunt and how I had to
lead a moving animal with my aim. So as he darted from left to right
I led him just right that my next bullet hit the 2nd one in the right hip
and it spun him around like a top about 3 times. That hip shot paralyzed
his back legs but he got up and slowly dragged on his front 2 feet toward
the trees. My 3rd shot hit him right behind the right ear and his ear
blew off his head as he fell. He was dead before he hit the earth.

I knew he wasn't going anywhere so I left my hidden spot and went down
to the watering hole edge to find the first one whimpering and his last
remaining moments was in pain. I got close enough and shined my
flash light on the creature only to find out what I thought had been
a wild animal was in fact my neighbor's mean pit bill dog. After that
knowing it was dogs who had killed our cow by drowning it, had I known
it was dogs instead of a fox or coyote I probably would have remedied
the situation differently. But under the circumstances, I had fixed the
situation dealt to me with the knowledge I had been given by my father.

My father nor I knew what paw tracks we had seen prior but it proved
to be mean rogue uncontrollable neighbor's dogs who had killed
6 chickens from another neighbors chicken coop 3 nights earlier.

I had always heard that once a dog gets the taste of fresh blood
in their mouth they can never be satisfied with dog food. And now
I believe it. I had fixed the neighborhood problem as the neighbor
who owned the dogs never knew what I had done. He just assumed
that they ran away and never returned. But I know different as I was
the one who dragged the bodies of both of those dogs about a mile
into the swamp and left them there for the buzzards.

We never had any more cows to die or drown due to wild animals
either (or dogs).

And it is also true from first hand experience that if a person has
blood on their hands from killing another, they always remember it.
I still remember it like it was yesterday even though it's been almost
30 years since the incident.

Now to answer what you are thinking:

NO, I don't feel sorry for what I did. They deserved it
and I delivered it. Did I enjoy it? NO
Was it necessary? My cows thought so
and so did I.

I don't know the circumstances of the Huckabee's
run-in with killing a dog but if it was anything like mine,
I'd have a lil compassion and give the kid a break.

SimonSays : I am sorry to hear about your experiences. I have not hit a dog with my car, but have hit other animals and it does stink.
As for the cattle experience. I do feel bad that you had to be in that position, but it was justified. I agree with you and would have done the same. The next attack could have been on a child or you. You may have saved a human life in the process.
The story around the younger Huckabee, as much as I want to cut some slack, the Glock in the airport just shows poor judgment and thinking ability. In my mind, this kid made some bad decisions - and one of them "allegedly" was the dog killing.
SD did post it to illustrate the point that politics, during an election cycle, is downright evil. Ron Paul with the Newsletter, Obama with the drugs/muslim issue...etc...

I totally agree with ya that the glock in the airport security x-ray
machine was totally wrong, especially after 9/11. I don't care if
he did have a permit for it. Those permits don't apply to airline
travel. And his excuse that he forgot about it just don't fly with me.
Also the part about Huck firing the guy for not helping him "fix" the
problem shows just what kind of integrity Huckabee Sr. has. NONE!

For a moment I was confused about your comments as I didn't know
about neither incident (killing dog or weapon at the airport) but I think
space doubt already posted the link to the snopes dog incident so here's

What pisses me off is the lite sentence he got. 10 days community
service OR $100.00 fine. $100.00 FINE ??? WTH !!!!

Considering I have a CCW and carry responsibly, that act of his just makes me angry. There is no way a *responsible* gun owner, with a CCW, would carry into the federally secured area of an airport...let alone be careless enough to have it X-rayed. And as for the sentence - LOL - it must be nice to know people in high places. The average person, like you or I, would have been NAILED.
And as for the firing....I agree...shows the true colors there.
I have to make up my mind by tomorrow for my Republican Primary here in Michigan. All I can say, for sure, is Huckabee is a NO. Ron Paul is a maybe. Giuliani is a No (even us Ex-NYC'ers can say no to him). Mitt is a maybe. McCain is a DEFINITE NO (can't back the war hero for what he wanted to do with the illegal aliens - sorry).
Thank God I am not a registered Democrat. The ballot has Hillary, Write In, and OTHER. Obama and Edwards did not campaign here and stayed off the primary ticket when they signed the contract to "Keep Iowa and New Hampshire First." That was when MI moved it to 1/15 before Iowa and NH moved theirs back.

This is perhaps the lowest and silliest attack on a candidate that I've ever seen. Attack on a dog by his son ? Is there nothing else Ron Paul supporters have against other candidates ?

Mike used his influence as Governor to silence it
AND to avoid prosecution. He even fired a District
Attorney for not helping him with it. It's not what
happened with the dog .... it's what happened after the dog.
A politician who uses his status to get his family off ....
sounds more like a Bush to me.

This is an example of Sensationalist headline matched with emotion grabbing keywords within a story. It was meant to be a companion thread to the "Ron Paul is a Racist" threads.

"dog killer"
"torture"
"nazi"
"racist"

Those words can invoke quite a reaction, if you haven't noticed.

The evidence for either candidate being responsible for the actions of others is weak, at best.


That was my real point.

I don't think you can really blame Mike for this.
Most kids don't get their personality from their parents, but the people they spend the most time with. thats why you get goths wit reliogious parents or the other way round. I have a friend who's dads a biker ( a nice one though) and she's nothing like that, she's a bit of a geek (no offense Amy) coz thats the kinda people she hung round with. think about it from the age of five you go to school and spend time with your friends for 6-7 hours every weekday (minus holidays). but your licky to have 2 hours of family time with your parents
